This trek starts from Jiri (1905m), a day's drive from Kathmandu. The trail heads eastward through the lovely forested hills of Solu and over the 3530m Lamjura Pass. Monasteries and uninterrupted mountain views lie ahead. A side trip to the Sherpa settlement of Namche Bazaar reveals the back sidde of Kongde. From the rocky summit of Gokyo peak you will marvel at the close-up views of Everest and its neighbors. This trek brings you to the roof of the world and at the base of mount Everest (8848m), the world's highest mountain.
